XP sales still strong
Microsoft said in a statement that it expects Windows XP to make up a significantly larger part of sales in the coming year. The company said in a statement that they have now changed its fiscal year 2008 forecast from an 85/15 split in sales between Vista and XP to a 78/22 split.

This means that the sales of XP operating system would be nearly 50 percent higher in the next 12 months than Microsoft had estimated earlier.

My prediction is that this will change with the release of a major service pack for Vista.

I think windows XP will hang around for a long time after microsoft deprecates the OS.

I agree.. XP will stay for a long time since there are many XP users too. XP and vista are the ones who is popular right now.

According to MS sales of XP cease as of June this year apart from a few 'specialised' vesrions for specific projects like the $100 notebook, but from June there wont be a retail or oem version of XP on sale.

Windows might consider limiting the availability of XP to push people to Vista or 7. I guess they want their new products to be more recognized by the buyers.

This is the reason Microsoft is more worried that Microsoft's new product sales decreased a lot
