Default Change write permissions

I need to edit the host file C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts
Problem being the C:\Windows is read only and the permissions propagate downwards. Even logged in as Owner I cannot change the permissions for C:\Windows. As in unclicking the read only box and agreeing to everything.
Anyone knows how to fix this?

Cool Turn Off UAC

Did you try turning off the User Account Control for your user (Owner)?

If not I would say try that first...Steps are:
Control Panel->User Accounts and Family Safety->User Accounts
Then on your account (should be an administrator account) go to 'Turn User Account Control On or Off' then uncheck the 'Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer' box and click OK and do a restart. Hope this helps.
