Default Recording Audio Output

How can you record your audio output, NOT your microphone input? Basically how do you record the live audio that comes out of your speakers? Is this function disabled with vista?

Your sound card or the riser from the onboard chip should have an 'output' socket, which is what you would use. Some proprietry software that comes with drivers for the sound chip has a selection for recording 'what you hear' which is self explanetory.
Why don't you post the specs of your machine, especially the sound hardware and we'll see what we can do for you.
