Default Can't type

In the last week a problem has started happening.

I use Vista for hours just fine. Then, it happens. I try to type into a field such Google search or an entry field in a webpage. It won't let me type - instead a popup appears such as "choose from a list of Favorites".

I tried switching to another browser - Safari - but it exhibits the same problem.

AVG anti-virus does not report any problems.

If I restore to a previous Checkpoint, the problem goes away. But, sometime during the day, it comes back.

Is your keyboad wired or wireless and have you looked for an updates for it lately, just whilst we're on the subject what make and model is your keyboad\mouse ?

There are some possible system\software problems like keyboard cache not clearing, but starting at the most obvious is usually the best way to go.

Default keyboard

It is a wired Logitech, not wireless.

I do have a wireless mouse - Microsoft Wireless Optical Mouse 2.0

Not wishing to be personal but have you given your keys a good clean lately, a stuck down key can cause all manner of problem, yours included, which would correct itself when it finally sprung back out again.
No matter how particular about eating or drinking around your keyboard, it's now rated as the most unhealthy item in the average home. I wont go into detail on what gets down there but, it needs regular cleaning.

The more I think about it the more convinced I get, I think your suffering stuck keys.

Smile problem solved

I found the problem. Vista Sleep mode does not reset USB controllers correctly. Turning off Sleep fixed the problem.
