Greetings
I have an OEM Vista 32 OS installed by Dell originally on my Vostro 1500 Laptop. I guess some trojan or virus, has caused an error saying I must re install Vista and Copy of Windows is not genuine (Build 6002) I'm reluctant to use the original Dell backup disk since I can still operate the system OK and upgrades have been installed in the past. Not sure I have a problem here but thought a malware or virus might be lurking in the system. I've never had the computer with a 3rd party so it came through the internet. Any suggestions? Dick |

Many virus checker programs (even free) will provide a boot disk to use to check the entire disk for a virus. The safest way to ensure you don't have a virus is by using one of those.
For your issue, I've seen it before. Look to see if you have Windows Service Pack 2 installed, which should have been. In addition, see this Microsoft solution to the build 6000 windows not genuine error. |
