Default trojan

I typed trojan in the programs search box from the start menu and a row of numbers and letters popped up so I right clicked and deleted them,my pc automatically shut down.I then restarted it and it worked fine.was this advisable?

I am guessing that no virus creator would label their virus infected application or program "trojan." It is possible that you clicked on a document or something else that may have ended up in a crash - I don't know. I would say that you should never launch or double click on an application or program that you cannot identify. Run a virus scan as soon as possible just to make sure. I wouldn't roll back the system with a system restore unless necessary.
