Its hard to image but pizza.com has sold at auction for an impressive $2.6 million. That domain is premium but $2.6 is alot of money. Do you think domains are worth this? What are your thoughts?

I think domains are grossly overpriced. In my opinion, marketing people are overestimating the importance of a domain name.
Example; If I want pizza....I will open a search engine and search for 'pizza'. I will not simply open a browser and type in pizza.com. I want a range of results, not a narrow-minded one. Yes it may be nice to have the easiest and most popular domain name. However, the chances are that once I've googled the page i'm looking for, i'm just going to make it a favourite anyway and couldn't care less about it's domain name. And I think this is probably the case for most net users. I wouldn't have paid $2.60, let alone $2,600,000. |
