Default IE7 shows internt/protected mode off
IE7 shows internt/protected mode off despite ticking the box in tools, internet options, security.

I am working on a Vista Home premium dell inspiron 1525 laptop with Intel Pentium dual core with 103gb free of 232gb c drive.

Please can anyone help me?

Is the User Access Control turned on for the laptop?

I'm pretty sure that is your problem. I think you need to have UAC turned on in order for protected mode to work.

Ah nice one.
I would never have guessed this could be the issue.

Thank you so much.

I had to re-install Google chrome afterwards and tweak around with having a web page open to make it worked when I pressed on a link in an email.

hi, it maybe because you would have kept the anti virus off. Try to navigate it and click on 'switch in firewall'. What antivirus software do you use by the way?
