Default Vista recovery disk

I need to reinstall vista onto my fujitsu laptop but have lost the recovey/install disk. Can i use the disk from my dell vista computer anf the code from the laptop to install vista or do i need a different disk?

That is a good question. I would imagine it should work in theory but I can also see dell limiting the hardware thier vista recovery disc will work with. Please let us know what you find out.

Typically recovery disks for OEM installations look for signatures in the CMOS chip to verify it can be installed on that hardware, in this case another makers recovery disk wouldn't work as it couldn't be verified. But that's only a definate maybe you'll just have to try it .
